The restoration of the furnishings and fixtures in St. Marys Church in Bergen, which the Museum of Archaeology is about to complete after 5 years of work, is an example of a major project involving the conservation of paintings. In the visitors centre, you admire the portal into the VR experience which is hand carved in beautiful traditional patterns from the Viking age, meet their own Vikings dressed in traditional clothing and have a look at the Viking-related products they sell in the shop. It's been through several stages of construction to get to the building you see today: from the initial build in 1893, significant works in 1930, a redesign in 1964, to various later additions to other parts of the grounds. This battle is recreated every July as an outdoor theatre event called The St. Olav Drama.
